Digital menu for meals hotels, tiffin centres and messes in Tamil Nadu

Digital menu software, Tamil Nadu

A meals hotel, tiffin centre or mess can run a bilingual QR menu by photographing its menu board, checking the Tamil and English names, and adding a "today" category for the daily meals. Items that finish are marked sold out, and combos and veg and non-veg marks are set per dish.

Why is a meals or tiffin menu different from a restaurant menu?

A restaurant menu is mostly fixed. A meals hotel or tiffin centre runs on time: tiffin in the morning, meals at noon, snacks and dosa in the evening. Some items exist only for one slot and some only until the batch finishes. The menu has to follow the clock, and a printed card cannot.

Many of these places also have a menu that exists only as a wall board or a handwritten slate. A photograph of the board is a starting point for the AI, but handwritten text is the most likely to need corrections, so check every line.

How do I set up a bilingual menu for a meals hotel?

  1. Photograph the board or card. Take one photo per section if the board is large, so the AI reads clean lines.
  2. Let the AI read the dishes and prices, then open the review screen.
  3. Check every Tamil name and every English name. Fix spellings your customers would notice.
  4. Group dishes into categories that match the clock: Tiffin, Meals, Snacks, Evening.
  5. Check the matched photos. Replace any that do not look like your dish.
  6. Print the QR code for the tables and the counter.

Setup is typically minutes for a menu of about 40 items and longer for a big menu, because the review is the slow part. The setup guide shows where the time goes. Photos are ai-matched food photos from a curated library, matched to your dish names.

How do I handle daily specials on a QR menu?

Create a category called "Today" or "இன்றைய சிறப்பு" and put the daily meals and specials in it. Each morning, edit the items from your phone: change the dish, the price or both. The QR on the table does not change, so there is nothing to reprint and no sticker to replace.

Keep the category near the top, so regulars see what is new before they scroll. If you run a weekly rotation, you can leave the items in place and switch them by marking each one sold out on the days it is not served.

How do I mark items as sold out during the day?

Every item has a sold-out switch. When the idli batch finishes or the fish is gone, flip it and the item greys out on every table at the next scan. Flip it back when the next batch is ready. This is faster than deleting and retyping, and the price and photo stay in place.

For a busy lunch this matters more than anything else on the list. Staff stop saying "that is finished" at each table, and customers choose from what is actually available.

How do I show combos and meal sets?

How do veg and non-veg tags work?

Mark each dish as vegetarian or non-vegetarian in the review screen. The mark appears beside the dish, which is the first thing many families look for. For a strictly vegetarian hotel, say so in a banner so visitors do not have to ask.

How do I show a different lunch menu every day on a QR menu?

Keep your fixed items in categories, and add a "today" category for the daily meals and specials. Edit it each morning from your phone. When something finishes, mark it sold out instead of deleting it.

Can a hostel mess or tiffin centre use a digital menu?

Yes. A mess can list each meal slot as a category with veg and non-veg marks, and update what is being served from a phone. Students or residents scan once to see the day's food.

How do I list combo items such as tiffin sets or meals with extras?

Add each combo as its own item with its own price and a short description of what is inside, then put the combos in a category near the top. Customers then see the set before the single items.

Will my regular customers who read only Tamil manage the menu?

Yes, if you check the Tamil names in review. Type each dish name in Tamil, English or both, and it shows in proper Tamil fonts. Lead with the Tamil name if most of your customers read Tamil.

Can vsite take orders for my tiffin centre?

Not today. Menu ordering with UPI payment is coming soon — not live yet. Customers read the menu on their phone and order with your staff or at your counter as they do now.
